New Chapter

After six years of waiting for child number three, Allen and I decided to jump in with both feet. We began trying to have our third child, it didn't take much in the way of trying, after one month we were pregnant. I was thrilled, Allen was nervous, I don't think he expected it to happen so easily. We had a pretty uneventful pregnancy minus some major morning sickness! We went to all of our appointments and anxiously awaited the arrival of Baby Willard #3. At week 20 we had an ultrasound, unfortunatley the baby was in the wrong position to see the heart so they wanted us to come back when it had grown a little. Allen didn't want to know the sex, we hadn't ever before and this wasn't going to be any different. I went back for the follow up at week 27. Allen had to work and I decided to find out the sex, ITS A GIRL! I was so excited to have pink in the house again. The doctor asked to speak with the two of us the next morning and we arrived first thing. He told us they had detected a possible heart defect and wanted us to see a specialist. On April 4 we arrived at the office of the high risk ob for what was supposed to be a detailed sonogram. During the ultrasound we noticed her heart rate was really low. The doctor confirmed the defect and informed us that our daughter was in heart failure. She needed to be born right away. At 1:05pm on April 4, 2008 we welcomed our precious daughter, Andi Mae. She was beautiful. She weighed 2lbs 10 1/2 oz and was 15 inches long. She had so much black hair and looked just like her mommy! Our daughter was rushed to the nearest children's hospital 3 hours away. We reamined at the area hospital until I was released from csection recovery. We arrived home to see our older children on a Sunday afternoon. The doctors called and said things were looking grim for our baby. We packed in minutes and were off to see our daughter. We sat with her for hours. The next morning we made the ultimate sacrifice and told the doctors to stop her pain. My tiny miracle baby passed away in our arms at just 3 days and 5 minutes old. She went so peacfully and we were blessed to know she was in the arms of Jesus. Despite our pain, we know she is better off. We now remember her daily along with her older brother Evan and older sister Aryn.
